Dr. Schumacher developed a structured, evidence-based system for adult ADHD evaluations using clinical and psychometric standards to address a longstanding gap in adult diagnostic services. In his private practice, he has conducted hundreds of adult ADHD evaluations, refining a model that enables psychologists to deliver accurate, defensible diagnoses efficiently—without sacrificing clinical depth. This system serves as the foundation of the Adult ADHD Specialist training in evaluations.
Education & Professional Formation
Dr. Schumacher’s professional foundation reflects discipline, rigor, and applied clinical science. He is a graduate of Culver Military Academy and completed his higher education at the University of Cincinnati, the University of West Georgia, and the University of Alabama, where he earned his PhD in Clinical Psychology. He completed his internship in psychology and law at the University of South Florida, shaping a career grounded in research-based clinical practice.
Clinical, Research, and Leadership Experience
For 25 years as a behavioral scientist and Professor of Medicine at UAB, Dr. Schumacher led research and training in contingency management interventions for addiction and homelessness, while in private practice he conducted thousands of psychological evaluations of healthcare professionals with addictive disorders and suicide and self-harm risk in correctional settings. He now specializes in Adult ADHD, Problem Drinking, and Cognitive Wellness Psychological Evaluations in his private practice.

With over two decades of federally funded research and more than 100 peer-reviewed publications, Dr. Schumacher brings a science-to-practice mindset to every evaluation model he teaches.
